We All Sew Bernina

This isn't a rigid, lecture-style class. It’s interactive and collaborative, where you are the driver. You'll bring your own machine, your questions, and your ideas. Together, we’ll dive into a technique demo, which you can immediately try out yourself on a 18x18” muslin practice block (provided in class). We will then open the floor to share projects, troubleshoot challenges, and brainstorm.

Whether you want to master a specific presser foot, look up a technique in the Bernina Big Books, or just get some uninterrupted time to play with a friend by your side, you will leave this class feeling bolder, more capable, and inspired to sew on YOUR Bernina!

Plus, every participant will walk away with a Step-by-Step Project Sheet, ensuring you can replicate exactly what you learned at home.

Class Details & What to Expect:

  • The Operative Word is Owner: This is your time to shine with your machine. Bring your Bernina, your unique perspective, and your curiosity.

  • Live Demo & Independent Play: We will kick off with a spotlight technique demo. To keep things stress-free, you'll get a dedicated 18x18” muslin block to test the technique, fiddle with settings, and experiment without worrying about ruining a final project.  ***Optional to bring:  The demo requires RED bobbin case for specific technique + empty bobbin spool. If you wish to duplicate the RED bobbin demonstration of this class, please include your own red bobbin in your supplies. Red bobbins have a specific tension for heavier threads.***

  • Show & Share: Bring your recent triumphs, your current works-in-progress, or even the samples of things that have you stumped. Learning from each other's projects is half the fun!

  • The "Recipe" for Success: No more guessing games when you get back to your sewing room. You’ll receive copies of our specialized project note-taking sheet so you can log the exact "recipe" for any technique shared during class.

What We Log on Your Project Sheet:

  • The specific technique used (and where to find it in the Bernina Big Books)

  • Needle size and type

  • Thread type and weight

  • Exact tension settings

  • Presser foot selection

  • Bobbin case used

What to Bring to Class:

  • Your Bernina sewing machine (including power cord and foot control)

  • A selection of your favorite or most-frequently used presser feet

  • Current ideas, questions, or samples for the Show & Share portion

  • Your favorite sewing notions and a notebook

Leave the hesitation at home and come ready to play, explore, and become a bolder sewist!
